My name is Gisela and translate mainly from English to Spanish and viceversa – although Spanish is my mother tongue,  I am bilingual.

I studied a Degree in English Philology and I get a real kick out of literary translation, although I am very versatile and I translate texts of the most different kinds, as you can see in my portfolio, from poetry to instructions manuals and patents – which have their own special appeal. Through the years, I have been building up a large specialized library which includes Beigbeder’s Polytechnic Dictionary, very useful in order to achieve maximum accuracy in technical translations of any kind. I have also accumulated a vast quantity of technical glossaries  and reference materials, and I have  access to direct advice  about this field of expertise.

During my Degree I also studied German and French and, although I do not have the same proficiency as in English, they come in handy in many occassions in multilingual translations. I also studied Old English and Middle English. I continue with my studies, as I love learning, and I keep on improving my skills.

I started as a translator by offering my services as a volunteer worker for organizations with social and ethical concerns in order to build up some experience, and I have been colaborating  with translator Katia de Juan, taking care the outsourcing of some of her commissions.

Deadlines and pricing may vary depending on the complexity of the text – the more complex, the more time-consuming – and will be negociated directly with the client, which implies that a two-way flow  of communication will be encouraged. I take good care that the translated version sounds natural.

Finally, I am sure you have noticed my company logo, so I will explain what it stands for, which is what I take pride in offering you as a translator and can be neatly summed  up in three adjectives: reliable, fast and creative.

Me llamo Gisela y traduzco principalmente del inglés al español y viceversa (aunque el español es mi lengua materna, soy bilingüe).

Me licencié en Filología Inglesa y me chifla la traducción literaria, aunque soy muy versátil y traduzco textos de los tipos más dispares, como puede comprobar en mi portfolio, desde poesía a manuales de instrucciones y patentes (que tienen su propio encanto especial). A lo largo de los años he ido haciéndome con una amplia biblioteca especializada que incluye el Diccionario Politécnico de Beigbeder, muy útil de cara a conseguir la máxima exactitud en traducciones técnicas de cualquier tipo. También he acumulado una gran cantidad de glosarios técnicos y material de referencia y tengo acceso directo a asesoramiento en este campo.

Durante mis estudios universitarios también cursé alemán y francés y, pese a que no tengo de el mismo dominio que en lengua inglesa, me son de gran utilidad en traducciones multilingües. También estudié inglés antiguo y medio.Continuo estudiando, ya que me encanta aprender, y sigo mejorando mis capacidades.

Comencé en la traducción ofreciendo mis servicios como voluntaria a organizaciones con vocación social y ética de cara a acumular experiencia, y he colaborado con la traductora Katia de Juan, ocupándome de la subcontratación de algunos de sus encargos.

Los plazos de entrega y la tarifa varían dependiendo de la complejidad del texto (cuanto más complejo, más tiempo lleva) y serán directamente negociados con el cliente, lo cual implica que se fomentará la comunicación en ambos sentidos. Me ocupo de que la versión traducida suene natural.

Por último, seguro que se ha fijado en mi logo, así que le explicare lo que representa, que es lo que me enorgullezco de ofrecerle como traductora y que puede ser resumido de forma sucinta en tres adjetivos: fiable, rápida y creativa.
